I'm not a goose ball!

This is depressing...it's been a month and I have had NOTHING to blog about. Which contrary to John's thinking does not mean I have no thoughts, it just means I don't want to share my thought with all of you. No really, it just means that none of my thoughts are that exciting lately.

Let's see...I just finished reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert a story about a woman who tries to find herself post divorce by traveling to Italy, India, and Indonesia. It was an Oprah book club selection and therefore now a bestseller. I have to say that while I thought it was enjoyable, it was by no means worthy of the notoriety that an Oprah book gets. Of course the first section about eating her way through Italy was fun to read about, what woman hasn't dreamed of running off to Rome to sight-see, eat, and listen to beautiful people speaking beautiful Italian? (My favorite phrase by the way... Il mio telephonino, which translates to- my tiny telephone, which they use for cellphone.) The final part where she goes to Bali and falls in love, is also right out of any woman's fantasy. During the middle section the author spent months in an Ashram in India where she learned how to meditate, be closer to God, and center herself. This portion of the book was the hardest for me to make it through and I felt the least interest in. I can appreciate people who are religious and pray/meditate, but I felt that a lot of her scenarios were just a little too "hippy" for lack of a better word.
Overall, I am surprised that Oprah chose this book. Of course all it takes is Oprah's endorsement and millions of women have jumped on the Eat, Pray, Love bandwagon. They are hailing it as an inspiring book, and taking their own journeys to find themselves. Personally I wasn't that inspired. If you want to read what the New York Post has to say check out this article:

Now I am reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and hoping this book will be a little more inspiring than the last, I already find it more interesting so that's a start.

Finally, I have been obsessed with the reality show on TLC called Jon & Kate plus 8. It is about a couple who had twins and then a few years later they had sextuplets. Basically it chronicles their day to day lives, which I find fascinating. I truly can't imagine having that many kids and not going nuts, which of course the mom is and that makes it all the more entertaining. Anyway they other day the dad says to one of the little boys, "You're such a goofball." As I am sure all parents say to their children at one time or another. The little guy's response...

"I'm not a goose ball!"

This has now become my favorite saying.

I bought Eat, Pray, and Love, and I couldn't even finish it because I kept thinking, "What was all of the hype about?" I lost interest very quickly!

John and Kate Plus 8 ... I discovered this show last year and love it! The mom is a bit Type A, but I relate to that, so I love her! Really ... how does that family do it?

Yes, you are a"goose ball", there now you can say your parent has called you a goose ball :-) I love this show also, I thought that was so funny when he said that the other night, those kids are so precious. I also like that the Mom and Dad have kept the "real" in reality tv.
Christy your blogs are always good, you are just going thru a private time, this to shall pass :-) Love, Mom

"A private time"? Mom you make it sound like I am keeping some deep secrets. Don't worry readers I keep nothing from you, oh except that one thing... You'll find out soon!

Just to clarify, because that last comment led my brother to send me a text asking if I was pregnant. NO! I AM NOT PREGNANT!

I can't stand that woman! she's always bossing Jon around, and he just has this hangdog look about him that shows he's lost all spirit and individuality that he may have once had before she wheedled him into getting her pregnant one more time.

Seriously... He was perfectly happy with 2 kids. She supposedly wanted to know what it would be like to have MORE?!? Volunteer at a day care center for a couple of days. Of course, she'd have Jon doing everything then too. Also, she's got a NANNY now! And every time Jon comes home from work, she's like "I'm so tired... You watch the kids and give them dinner and give them a bath and put them to bed. Oh, and don't forget to write a check to the NANNY!!!!" Hey, doesn't he have a job? And then, she probably makes him put in some "private time" with her. Like he'd want to go anywhere near that after what he's been through.

I just feel so sorry for Jon every time I watch the show. That poor guy is possibly the most unlucky person on television. Even more unlucky than the guy on that logging show (Ax Men, History Channel) that lost half his hand.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jon hopes and prays for the sweet release of death some time soon.

I don't hate Oprah, I just hate her mindless flock.

You know the phrase "a wolf in sheep's clothing"? Oprah is Jerry Springer in Phil Donahue's clothing. She is garbage.

Oh, I have never watched J&K+8.

I had a thought yesterday about you not reaching the fabled "runner's high."

A common mistake that many beggining runners fall into is looking at their feet. I did it for months until my cross country coach caught me and told me not to.

A lot of people will tell you to 'run tall' but that means a variety of things. Yes, it is good to run upright with your shoulders back but relaxed, but it is also just as important to look straight ahead. It actually makes it easier to run by aligning your spine and making it easier to breathe.

This, however is a hard habit to break. After 10 years of (off and on) running I still catch myself looking down instead of straight ahead, especially at the end of runs when I am tired. Also, if you are running on the streets/sidewalks it is hard to do 100% of the time because of curbs, potholes, cars, etc...

Just a thought I had while out on my run yesterday.
