Anabelle has learned a new skill (please excuse the blurriness of these photos)
One might think that this is a good skill, but trust me it is not! Anabelle can now reach a lot of things she really shouldn't have access to.
Like the stove, salt and pepper shakers, knives and utensils!
Or the refrigerator and freezer.
Dirty dishes, the coffee maker, cereal, my calendar and a cup full of pens, pencils, and scissors.
And finally the sink and sponges.
These pictures are just the tip of the ice burg on the number of times I have walked into the kitchen and Anabelle is attempting to get into something. So it has been a busy week around here and I am re-thinking the location of some items in our kitchen. Prior to this I was able to give Anabelle some freedom and have her do small tasks like take something to the kitchen table while I was downstairs, or get something that she wanted by herself. But I can no longer do that because the first thing she does when she walks in the kitchen is to go straight for the chairs and pull them to what ever she is interested in. When she is "caught" in the act or asked to get down, she looks at me and says "see?" as in "Mom, I want to see." I try not to get frustrated with her, she is just curious, but at the same time it can be exhausting. So now you see why I haven't been posting... I have been chasing around my little one instead. I guess I should be thankful that she hasn't put it together yet that she can do this chair climbing routine in other rooms of the house to get into other things.

For each new skill Anabelle learns, Mom and Dad have to learn a bunch more, good luck with the learning process,(so glad you are already making baby #2) this might have been a deal breaker ;-) Love Mom ps, if you need a break, I'm here for ya, when I get back that is :-) Or we can take her with us :-)
Ha! And also I'm sorry. But did you see the look of excitement on her face when she was holding the cup and bottle brush? She likes doing the dishes! You must find a way to take advantage of this. Hey, send her to my house... :)
My darling wife conveniently neglected to mention that this new skill was not so much "learned" as it was "taught". Not that I have a problem with that; I just find it humorous that I get yelled at for teaching her innocuous things like how to open a door while she teaches our daughter a skill that both allows her to access all the deadly items in our house and provides her with many wonderful opportunities to fall from greater heights.
And Becky, there are two problems with Anabelle's dishwashing skills. First, she doesn't actually clean them - she's more concerned with just playing with the brush and splashing as well as occasionally trying to drink the dishwater. And second, she doesn't limit her "cleaning" to just the dirty dishes, which makes the whole experience quite counterproductive.
In my defense... I have to pull the chair over to the sink to have her wash her hands, b/c she is too heavy to hold while trying to juggle hand-washing. So yes, I did technically teach her this skill, but oh my! I never dreamed it would turn into this!
