Curious George at the Arboretum

Today we went to see Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat at the Arboretum. They were there to celebrate Arbor Day by reading a story and planting a new tree. It was a beautiful spring day! Grandma was able to come with us and we also invited some friends and made some new ones. We packed a great big picnic lunch and had an awesome day!

They had a table set up where you could make a tree slice necklace with glitter glue and foam shapes.

Every time we go to the Arboretum one of Anabelle's favorite things to do is to look at the map.

They just met that day, and it didn't take long to become good buddies.

Eye-Spy

 When we are out running errands the only way to keep 2 happy children is to pack drinks and snacks. Here we are at Sam's club, the girls are sharing some bunny crackers :)

 Last Saturday Aunt Becky came out to visit us, we made waffles and bacon for breakfast and then took a trip down memory lane to Enchanted Castle to play some mini-golf. 

I think it has been about 16 years since we'd last been to Enchanted Castle and frankly I can't believe it is still in business. It looks remarkably the same except for a few changes. Charlotte and I walked around while John, Becky and Anabelle played golf.

Sometimes you just aren't going to get a nicely posed picture that you'd like- and that's ok :)

Monday morning we hosted a play date with some friends. Here is Anabelle watching out the front door, waiting not so patiently for our friends, playing "eye spy". This is probably one of my all time favorite pictures of Anabelle, I love her silhouette!

We have a basket that holds the library books in the coat tree by the front door, Charlotte loves to climb into the nook and check out the books.

On Sunday Charlotte and I took a trip to Walmart and bought some hyacinths.  I love the smell of them, next to lilacs they are my favorite spring flower. I wanted to be able to enjoy them inside so I re-planted them in this light blue urn and I am hoping they get enough sunlight on the dining room table to stay alive for a while. Eventually I will plant the bulbs outside.

I think we are going to have a little garden this year, usually I buy starter plants but this year I thought we would take a shot at growing our own from seeds. Anabelle and I planted some peas, chives, basil, and pumpkin seeds on Monday. So far no growth- we'll keep you posted on any progress :)

On Tuesday the girls went to visit Grandma and Grandpa, I snapped a few pictures at the park.

I love Charlotte's expression -she's so excited! Anabelle is such a great big sister, helping Charlotte slide down.

It rained almost every day this week, so of course we had to break out the rain boots, raincoats, and rain hats. Charlotte loves to wear Anabelle's frog hat, and being such a good big sister, Anabelle lets her wear it from time to time :)  The rain was kinda nice this week, I wasn't too bothered by it, it felt cleansing and fresh. They say April showers bring May flowers.... after this week we better have a ton of flowers popping up soon!

We had a great day at the zoo, saw the dolphin show- it was awesome!

 Later that day Anabelle reenacted out the dolphin show, complete with Daddy's shoes as flippers.

We went to the library for story time and craft, Anabelle made a turtle she named him Franklin.

It's been rainy here this week, Charlotte loves to wear Anabelle's frog rain hat and look out the window.
